| Deep began singing when he was seven years old. He won several awards for singing while attending school in Nepal. Over time singing changed from being just a hobby for Deep to being a passion. When Deep came to Canada in 2000, he met several other young Nepali people with similar passion for music. Together, they have taken on to themselves to boost the Nepali music scene in Toronto. Deep's unique groovy vocal has indeed managed to increase people's interest in Nepali music. Deep began composing his own songs from 2002. While he had begun compose and sing rap songs in English soon after he came to Canada, it was during his visit back to Nepal in 2003 that he strongly became interested in integrating elements of rap/hip hop into Nepali songs. Together with other young Nepalese musicians, Deep became actively involved in promoting Nepali hip hop music (also referred to as 'Nephop'), primarily through shows and FM radio stations. While in Nepal, he began work on his first solo album titled 'Nepali Maya' (Nepali love) which has been released in NEPAL already, and currently he is signed with REEYAZ MUSIC. Deep is one of the most promising musicians among the young Nepalese Canadian musicians of Toronto. Deep has blended Western and Nepali musical styles in a very unique way so as to develop a signature style of music/singing. |
