When you starting singing?
Truthfully Speaking, I started singing when i was 7 yrs old,. My Maternal Uncle used to listen to Kishore Kumar at that time, and he used to sing his songs all the time, so I just started doing the same, then i slowly started listening to nepali music. I wasn't really interested or say "didn't know" anything about the nepali music scene at that time. Nepathya & The Skyband were the first nepalese cassettes i ever bought in my life and those were the classics at that time.
Tell us the brief history of your singing career. ?
I used to take part in various school talent shows back in nepal. I never knew anything about rapping. I used to sing only. Then i came to Canada when i was 15 yrs old, in the year 2000, and met few guys over here who were really into music making and
Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
Creative people inspire me a lot. Specially those who put their everything to make the music unique or different in any other music out there.
What are your dreams and goals?
Currently my goal is to finish my masters in Computer Administration but my dream is to be a Music Producer, if not then an R&B singer for sure because other than rap, i also sing.
Who writes the songs, what are they about?
Most of the songs i write on my own, but sometimes my close friends have helped me lot whenever i get stuck.
How do you promote yourself & shows?
I have lots of friends, on the internet, out here in canada, in nepal, so what i usually do is..whenever i make something or compose something new, i send it to them, to get feedback, and they end up sending their friends, and their friends.. so on..sometimes i also email different nepalese website to ask if they cud do anything to help. Like say..if i was in nepal, it would be completely different, performing in different cities, interviews and all..but thats not possible cuz i live so far from nepal, and that cud be a negative point for me..
Describe your show, visual and musically
First i go on stage...and introduce myself a lil bit then the crowd starts going crazy after the music starts..I pick my music..according to the crowd...if its a good crowd..i' start off with some dance numbers.....they yell my name sooo much....."lazyboiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii", "heyyyyyyyyyy lazyyyyyy"..and sometimes they also call me "nepali fat joeeeeeeeeee".
What do you think about downloading music online?
I think it helps to promote the new upcoming artists..but its a great loss for the music company's so i dont know what to say...being an artist i say it is really a good way of promoting urself.
What's your outlook on the record industry today?
Record industry's? hmm? i went to one of the music company in nepal....if they were interested in my album, i am not going to mention the name..but when i approached them and showed them my songs..they said "hyea..yesto geet haru aajkal chaldaina...baru ahile lai yo album haina..remix album euta gara..ani yo album pachi nikalu la.." i was so dissappointed after hearing that..and i just walked out of there. after putting all the hard work..and a lot of time..in my album "nepali maya" who are they to judge..what i need to release and what i don't. i think its really too much of these remixes..trend..and we shud start going back to composing original songs..rather than releasing what someone else has already composed. I personally think the music scene is not gonna progress if it is going to be like this forever.
What's your claim to fame?
I do it for the love of music. ever since when i was 7 yrs old..i started singing..and it has been my passion rather than just an hobby..so i planned to take it further..
Tell us a story about a day in your life.
I was in one of my class one day and i wasnt feeling well, i had my head down on the desk..and the teacher just came around and smacked my head with a newspaper, and said "get up you lazy boi". I thought "hey that could be a good alias (nick name) for myself.....lazy boi....a story of my life..haha..
What inspires you to do what you do?
I say i am my own inspiration, i go through many things in life and i learn from each one of them..thats what inspires me ...its just some ppl express it with anger, love, or many other things..i express it in my music, my songs.....but there are other inspiration in my life aswell, my group members..."the original sinz" and many other artists that are out there..struggling in this music industry....they also inspire me.
What advice would you give to fellow bands?
They're doing what they feel like doing. who am i to give them advice. i just wanna say..just do whatever your doing..keep up the good work..and lets take the nepali music scene more further..
How does music affect you and the world around you?
Well, when i am making music at home..it disturbs my mom..and i guess it also affects my studies..cuz for example: whenever i am studying or doing some other things..for skool, sometimes i get that musical vibe and i dont even feel like studying or doing what i am doing..so i start making music and then later on face the consequences..i get distracted really easily when it comes to music..so it has affected me and the world around me a lot.
What's new in the recording of your music?
Mixing, the quality of music. Hiphop is a way different genre in nepal so i guess thats wut makes it different..and i try to mix both western and nepali touch in my songs..thats wut also makes my music different and new..to the current nepali music scene.
What are the biggest obstacles for bands?
Teamwork, Communication, and focus are biggest obstacles i think is for bands...thats the main thing they gotta work on from my opinion.
What's the best and worst thing about playing clubs?
The best thing about playing clubs are everyone enjoys it..so they all can dance to it. The worst thing about playing clubs?? i dont know why that question is even there?
Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
I try to make my songs/music as different/unique as possible, some are club numbers, some are slow ballad's..some are related to my personal life and some are also related to nepali politics.
